Legacy Gala
Thank you to all who attended our 2025 Legacy Gala - Big Hats & Bow Ties “The Legacy Goes to Louisville” Kentucky Derby event on May 3, 2025. Those in attendance at this year’s gala enjoyed delicious dinner and drinks with fellow attorneys, judges and friends while helping the Foundation donate to charities in the community. Those at this event had the privilege to help raise funds during the "Raise the Paddle" portion of the program for this year’s highlighted recipient, Friends of JCDS. Friends of JCDS, Inc is a local non-profit that provides affordable and accessible housing, assistance with basic needs and other support programs for adults with disabilities in Johnson County, Kansas. Friends of JCDS focuses on helping individuals who receive services from Johnson County Developmental Supports (click HERE for more information about Friends of JCDS). We also celebrated the 2025 Legacy Award recipient, Karrie Clinkinbeard, who you can learn more about HERE. Also, the Foundation gives a special thank you our Triple Crown Title Sponsor ($7,500) for this year’s gala, the Barton P. Cohen & Mary Davidson Cohen Charitable Fund - Midwest Trust, Trustee. And thank you to our Grandstand Sponsor ($3,500) at this year’s gala, Bath & Edmonds, P.A. The annual Legacy Gala is always a can’t miss event, with the theme of the event changing each year. In recent years, attendees enjoyed the event themes of Soiree at the Speakeasy, LegaSki, Lei’d Back Legacy Luau, and Kentucky Derby.
Golf Tournament
The annual Foundation golf tournament is one of the year’s can’t miss social and fundraising events. The tournament offers all members of the legal community -- golfers and non-golfers -- the opportunity to spend a day on the beautiful St. Andrews Golf Club course enjoying each other’s company. Court staff, attorneys, judges and local businesses all gathered for a day of excellent food, drinks and golf, while raising money for local charities. This year’s tournament on September 6, 2024 raised over $15,000 for the Foundation’s charity partners in the community. A special thank you to our sponsors for the 2024 event:

Vines & Wines
Each year the Foundation teams up with the Young Lawyers Section of the Johnson County Bar Association to bring you “Vines & Wines”, an annual event at a local winery where you can enjoy delicious wine and appetizers while catching up with fellow Johnson County attorneys and judges. The event in 2024 took place at the Bourgmont Winery in June, at which the Foundation was honored to present its donation to Giving the Basics, a non-profit organization that does so much good in our community.
